Money talks Fambo to perform at Beenie Man’s show

Future Fambo and Beenie Man have not exactly been the best of friends in recent times. The two dancehall veterans, who once collaborated on the hit single Rum and Red Bull, have endured a rocky relationship marked by public tension, verbal jabs and recent diss exchanges.
But the latest twist in their long-running fallout could see the former friends and collaborators sharing a stage once again — this time at Beenie Man’s Summer Sizzle in Clarendon.
Fambo’s management team has accepted a $1.5 million offer for the veteran entertainer to perform at the festival, potentially setting the stage for an unlikely reunion.
Fambo confirmed yesterday that he had been approached by Billboard-charting producer Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor, who is working with Beenie Man and indicated that he was prepared to meet the artiste’s asking price.
“Yes, I am ready to do the show,” Fambo said.
Summer Sizzle takes place this Saturday at the Woodleigh Sports Complex in May Pen, marking the festival’s return after a six-year hiatus. Gates are scheduled to open at 6 p.m.
For Fambo, however, the performance would carry more weight than just another booking.
The veteran entertainer and Beenie Man have gone from being musical partners to adversaries in recent weeks, making a joint appearance particularly intriguing for dancehall fans.
Fambo, though, appears determined to keep the focus on entertainment rather than the fallout.
“I am going to call on a few guests. Me and nobody nuh inna no war. I am an entertainer, and I want to make sure my fans have a great time,” he said.
McGregor confirmed that he made the offer and said he was prepared to handle Fambo’s fee.
“I will be dealing with it, I am working out the details now,” McGregor said.
If the performance goes ahead, it could provide a dramatic moment of reconciliation between two artistes whose relationship has taken a sharp turn from their earlier days of collaboration.
The proposed Summer Sizzle appearance comes at an especially interesting time for Fambo, who is experiencing one of the strongest career revivals of his recent years.
His latest single, Give Thanks, has been gaining traction on streaming platforms, while Red Light Pepper Light has exploded online and helped push the veteran back into the centre of the dancehall conversation. The track has generated thousands of views and shares, particularly on TikTok, where Fambo has tapped into several of his most memorable viral moments. It also incorporates audio from an Instagram livestream involving West Kingston member of parliament and Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie being pepper-sprayed by police, adding to the song’s viral appeal.
The online buzz has translated into increased demand for Fambo on the live circuit. He opened August with an appearance at Supahype’s pre-birthday celebration at Aktiv Tuesdays on Chelsea Avenue on August 4, followed by performances in Portland on August 8 and at Sugarman’s Beach on August 9.
His schedule remains packed, with an appearance at Gugu Mental’s birthday event, also slated for August 15, followed by shows in Old Harbour on August 16 and Mandeville on August 22.
