A female motorist today wept in court after being freed on a charge of malicious destruction of property for damaging a clamp that was put on her car for parking in a no-parking zone in the vicinity of a shopping plaza in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Isadora Nembhard walked free as the prosecution failed to present a case.

The case had been impeded by delays and an incomplete case file, which included a statement from the worker who put the clamp on the woman's car.

The woman's lawyer Aless Labeach noted that there have been four previous trial dates.

The attorney argued that this amounted to an abuse of process and asked for the case to be dismissed.

Parish Court Judge Courtney Maxwell upheld the submission and dismissed the case.

The woman wept and had to be consoled in the dock after the decision was handed down.

Allegations were that on January 30, 2025, Nembhard was warned not to park in a no-parking area along Burke Road in Spanish Town, in the vicinity of the Spanish Town Shopping Centre.

She reportedly disobeyed and was clamped.

Nembhard is said to have driven off, damaging the clamp.

She was subsequently arrested and charged by the Spanish Town police.
