An update has emerged in the disappearance of police Sylvester Reid, after a body believed to be his was found in bushes along a dirt track off the Parnassus Main Road in York Town, Clarendon.

The discovery was made late Tuesday night after a suspect in custody reportedly led police to the location and pointed out the body.

The victim is believed to be 42-year-old Reid, a police officer and businessman of Evans Heights, May Pen, who was reported missing on April 15.

Reports are that about 11:30 p.m. on April 28, a team of officers acting on information received from the suspect went to a foot track in the area, where the decomposing body was seen in bushes.

The suspect allegedly told investigators that the body was that of Reid, with whom he lived.

The body, clad in a yellow shorts, was found lying on its back, barefooted, and showed what appeared to be burn marks to the upper body.

Police sources say the scene was processed and photographed by forensic personnel before the body was removed to the May Pen Hospital, where it was officially pronounced dead.
