Three women accused of stealing nearly $2M from their workplace
Three women have been slapped with embezzlement charges after investigators uncovered what police say was a months-long scheme that allegedly saw nearly $1.8 million siphoned from a food store in St Andrew through fake refunds.
Charged are 35-year-old Joedi Kay Harrison of Dunoon Road, Kingston 2; 39-year-old Tanese Wade of Mount Friendship, Mount James, St Andrew; and 46-year-old Nickeisha Evans of Darley Crescent, St Andrew.
According to investigators, the alleged fraud took place between October 2025 and April 2026 at a food store on Constant Spring Road.
Reports are that the business owner became suspicious after detecting discrepancies in the store's cash records and launched an internal probe.
The investigation allegedly revealed that Harrison, who worked as a cashier supervisor, conspired with Wade and Evans to steal $1,766,765.78 from the business.
Police say the trio allegedly processed refunds for customer purchases even though no refund requests had been made.
Investigators further allege that after the refunds were processed, the women removed the cash from the registers and kept it for themselves.
The matter was reported to the police, and following investigations, all three women were taken into custody and formally charged.
Their court dates are currently being finalised.
