Coaches Andrew Price of Humble Lion and Jermaine Brown of Dunbeholden are taking heart from their 0-0 draw at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on the opening day of the Jamaica Premier League yesterday.

Price believes Humble Lion controlled the game but were not clinical in front of goal, which prevented them from taking all three points, while Brown opined that Dunbeholden's performance was not up to par, but contends that they will get better while the season progresses.

"We could have been more clinical in front of goal. We got some opportunities, especially late in the game, some one-on-one with the goalkeeper that we should have converted, but they put in a good shift and to get a clean sheet is a plus. It's only a shame we couldn't score one of the chances.

"It is a lost opportunity and we are disappointed, but we are going to keep positive and work on our finishing. We looked very much the part today (Sunday). We dominated for the better part of the game and got opportunities. We just weren't clinical," Price said.

Brown countered: "It was a tough one, a gutsy one. We created a few opportunities but it's a long season and we don't want to single players out now. To get a point at the start of the season is a good one, but we need better movement up top. We were static that caused some turnovers, but once we get players moving off the ball a little more, we will be okay.

"Also we have four players (including star forward Peter McGregor) out who should be back next week. They will add to the offence and we will be a better team the next time."

In a cagey first half, Dundeholden struggled to get their game together, while Humble Lion was slow to get into their rhythm.

The first good chance fell to Humble Lion's Andre Clennon, who headed over from approximately 12 yards. The big striker then had another good chance shortly after, which he volleyed wide of the near post.

Dunbeholden's best chance of the half went to De Andre Thomas but he chose to control instead of firing a one-time shot.

Humble Lion controlled the early minutes of the second half, but the two best opportunities went to Dundeholden through Thomas, who was denied by goalkeeper Damion Hyatt on both occasions.

Both teams battled under torrential rain in the second half and Humble Lion appeared more comfortable with the wet condition and created several openings. Kemar Mullings got the best chance, in the final minute, but he lost out to Hyatt, with the goalkeeper at his mercy.
