#BudaQuest: Jamaican triple threat qualifies for women's 100mh semi-finals
Three Jamaicans are through to the semi-finals of the women's 100 metre hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, creating a triple threat for the competition involved.
Danielle Williams, 12.55 seconds, was third in heat three, behind the United States’ Kendra Harrison, who impressed with a blistering 12.24, and the Bahamas’ Devynne Chalrton, who ran a national record 12.44.
There were no bobbles for World Athletics Championships debutant, Ackera Nugent, who won heat one in 12.60, the same time as the United States’ Masai Russell.
Jamaica’s other entrant, Megan Tapper, was also comfortably through, clocking 12.51, to finish second behind Nigerian world record holder, Tobi Amusan, 12.48.
The event’s other heavy hitters, Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, 12.50, the Netherland’s Nadine Visser, 12.68, and the United States’ Nia Ali, 12.55, are also through to the semi-finals.
The 100-metre semi-finals take place at 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
